Before we asked Ben to design our garden, we were hesitant because we liked the idea of doing it ourselves and had a good idea of what we wanted.

Now that our garden is complete, we are very happy that it was professionally landscaped. Within days, our backyard was totally transformed into a beautiful space, saving us huge amounts of time and taking the confusion out of plant selection and design.

Ben impressed us on so many levels: his amazing plant knowledge, his artistic approach and his obvious expertise. Our garden feels very naturalistic, and we love the stone pavers and variety of interesting plants.

The result is a garden that feels very “us”, yet is far better than anything we could have created. It’s one of the best investments we’ve made.

We have just had our backyard pond completely redeveloped and redesigned by Ben Harris Gardens.
We are so happy that we chose Ben to take on our project. Our original pond had a number of problems. We had a waterfall that never really flowed like a waterfall and the flow down to the pond did not reflect any drama. The pond also was losing water which showed that water was escaping. The other factor was the depth and size of the pond was inadequate.

Faced with these factors Ben has solved all these requirements and presented us with a work of art, with correct water flow and strategic placement of rocks and plants to provide a natural and beautiful result. I can’t wait to reintroduce our fish to their new home and will entrust this to our twin grandchildren. Ben very quickly understood our garden – the challenges and opportunities it presented. In a really enjoyable process, the design both from an ornamental and functional perspective evolved. Once construction started, there were small daily adjustments, with each decision justified and always aesthetics and function deeply considered. Throughout, we felt very involved. Various family members were up helping with the furniture and they all loved it. The boys even had a bit of a play with a couple of rocks to change the sound.

The local neighbours have also been checking it out and are all very impressed also, commenting on how natural it looks.

I can’t tell you how much pleasure it gave me to arrive both Saturday and yesterday and hear the creek trickling down. I could spend hours just sitting on the stairs watching the light reflect on the pebbles.

My garden now has a heart – a beautiful, living, flowing pond. Reflected light shimmers and plays into the house and the sounds of the waterfall and stream are entrancing. The fish are delighted with their new home and my dogs and cats are fascinated – they especially love sitting on the bridge and surrounding rocks. Ben has a rare combination of artistic talent, technical know-how and the patience, perseverance and dedication to get the detail absolutely right. Thank you Ben, it’s perfect!

We’re thrilled with our new pond. It’s so serene and beautiful. We knew we wanted a pond were we already had what we called “The Bog”. It was a damp, weed-filled ditch that needed to be dealt with, but we weren’t really sure how. We called Ben who wandered around for a bit, asked a few questions and designed the fabulous result! He was great. He just showed up when he said he would and got on with it.

It was fascinating to watch it all happening. The pond looks natural, but it’s actually a miracle of modern aquascaping. So much more attractive than a swimming pool and far less maintenance, but you can still go for a dip if you feel like it. It’s perfect.

What a wonderful feature you have created for us.  It brings us so much joy to be able to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful stream and surrounds.  A previous area of cracked concrete has been transformed into a spectacular Japanese garden.  It truly is a living work of art – our own restful piece of nature in suburbia.

Our brief to Ben was for a small pond that would look natural in our backyard. From our initial discussion with Ben through to the completion of our pond and waterfalls, we could not have been happier. Ben is highly experienced and he has a great eye; we are thrilled with the result. His team was great — friendly, pleasant and you could tell that they loved what they were doing.

After enjoying our home for 10 years we decided to give it a long overdue birthday in the form of a 4 meter creek flowing over two waterfalls into a native fish pond. Ben was asked to create a natural landscape that looked as if the house was built around it. The final product is amazing, it has instantly become the most frequented part of the backyard with the entire family enjoying the space. Complete with water falls and an island, you can find yourself totally at peace as you watch nature enjoying the space as much as you. Well done Ben. I don’t usually write reviews, but you really deserve the highest praise for your delivery on this landscape.

Ben’s brief was to redesign a pond near our home that would hold water over dry summer months and enhance our existing garden. The project required creative flair and an ability to to manage some logistical challenges. Some additional challenges were added by cyclonic wind and rain! We are really pleased with the result of Ben’s work and are getting great pleasure from looking and being around the space he has created.

We are more than delighted with our endless stream, More importantly, from the moment we viewed Ben’s website, to the most courteous return phone call, we were most impressed with the service. He understood from the start what we wanted and was happy to make changes or alterations based on our input; he is also a great communicator and has a great knowledge of plants and horticulture. Ben and his hard working crew have created the most amazing natural water feature at the rear of our property in Walkerville. During the wettest week for years, Ben completed the project by winching all the rocks up a steep incline one by one. All excess soil (or should I say clay) was bucketed out !! At the end of the week, Ben had transformed this very difficult site into something extraordinary that looked like it belonged here for years. The attraction for the birdlife (first being a lyrebird !!) and wildlife was immediate. Photos do not do justice for the detail, planning and physical efforts put in. I wanted a native garden that would attract birds and other wildlife. Ben ran with this vague brief and created an amazing garden that was beyond my expectations. Ben and his three great offsiders have completed a wonderful living stream in our backyard. He is also in the process of completing a fern garden down one side of the house which was just barren and uninteresting.
